About SIFL

The Social Inclusion Football League is a partnership between Creative Support and Blackburn Rovers Community Trust and is currently funded by the National Lottery’s Peoples Projects.

Additional support is provided by Chris Truckle of Blackburn with Darwen Adult Learning and Cian McEvoy from UCLan Sports Arena to help us develop Peer Support and Ladies Football respectively. As part of our funding we are also currently providing Level 1 Coaching and Referee courses courtesy of the Lancashire FA.

The League is open to any 5-a-side football team from within the Health & Social Care sector. We currently have services from outside the Borough participating with teams travelling from Wigan, Preston, Bolton and Derby.

The League seeks to address the isolation, stigma and discrimination surrounding mental health and emotional wellbeing. It also supports and addresses issues around substance misuse, homelessness and social isolation. Through an enjoyable community environment, the League provides opportunities for participation in friendly but competitive football while further contributing towards encouraging and supporting individuals to make healthier lifestyle choices. It also seeks to promote self-confidence, self-esteem and peer support amongst players taking part and endeavours to promote social interaction, community cohesion and partnership working. Fixtures take place once a month at Blackburn Rovers Indoor Centre.

If you would like to enter a team into the League or simply want to find out more please contact Paul Hardman on 01254 674301 or email blackburn@creativesupport.org.uk
